This course will take you on a journey to comprehend the importance of self-care from the Qur'an and Sunnah! Today, we find heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity ubiquitous in society among younger and younger generations. With the increase in social media platforms, self-esteem and mental health struggles are more prevalent in society. We will discuss the importance of taking care of our physical health, while not neglecting our spiritual state and emotional wellbeing. We will cover self-esteem, seeking our dignity and validation through proper channels. This course will serve as an opportunity to ask questions or share any challenges or reflections you may have. You will learn about what Islam teaches us about our body, how eating healthy can earn you good deeds, and how you can care for your health while still enjoying traditional food.

Noor Salem is an author of six books, speaker, and a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan within two years, she successfully received her graduate certification as a holistic health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the world’s largest educational institution for nutrition. Noor has been working with clients for years through her wellness practice, Holistic Noortrition, on healing naturally from issues including, but not limited to, allergies, migraines, food intolerance, arthritis, infertility, weight loss/gain, thinning hair, and insomnia. She conducted workshops, lectures, and group coaching classes in countless faith-based organizations, conventions, and universities nationwide, including MAS-ICNA, Al Maghrib Institute, and ICNA. She authored Sunnah Superfoods, Sunnah Superfoods for KIDS, Sunnah Superfoods for Baby: Arabic Version, and Sunnah Superfoods: The A to Z of Eating Healthy. Her hobbies include photography, hiking, and poetry, Imam al-Shafi’s Diwan being amongst her favorite.
